Facility managers will see FF&E through its full lifecycle, from initial planning and acquisition, through daily use and ongoing maintenance, and finally by responsible recycling and/or disposal. Although the specific tools, processes, and delivery methods may vary, our objective remains consistent: to provide reliable, scalable, and high-quality service at every stage. By openly sharing lessons learned, aligning future goals, and exchanging long-term visions, we create meaningful outcomes and opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and optimize sustainable operations.

Moderator:

Lauren Ross, NCIDQ, LEED AP, PMP, Program Manager for Space, Aleto, Inc.
Lauren Ross is an Interior Designer (NCIDQ, LEED, PMP) with more than 25 years of experience in largescale space planning, portfolio strategy, and project management. Over the past four years, I’ve shifted my focus toward space and portfolio management, leveraging IWMS platforms and datadriven processes to help clients optimize real estate, improve operational performance, and achieve longterm strategic goals.

As the Program Manager for Space at Aleto, I oversee six contracts and the teams that support them. My day-to-day work spans IWMS management, system support, and end-user guidance, along with new design initiatives, space consolidations, and decommissioning efforts for federal clients across the U.S.—all aligned with broader rightsizing and modernization strategies.

Environmental stewardship has always been central to how I approach design and planning. I’m passionate about integrating sustainable, responsible decision-making into every phase of a project.

I’m energized by solving complex problems, exploring alternative solutions, and adapting strategies to meet the unique needs of each client, space, and portfolio. With IWMS technologies becoming more advanced every year, I’m continuously learning, experimenting, and helping teams build confidence in the platforms that support their work.

Panelists:

Scott Cornblatt, President, OLS
Scott is a native Washingtonian who was born and raised in his family’s office furniture business, Desks and Furnishings (D&F). While growing OLS into a nationally recognized decommissioning company, one project changed their approach from “fill the dumpsters” to “zero-landfill.”

He knew things had to change, so in 2018, the transformation into a zero-landfill company began.

OLS now sells, donates, or recycles most excess corporate assets, while final disposition follows best practices, like waste-to-energy. Our diversion efforts are measured and reported in an OLS Sustainability Scorecard that we send to each client. To date, we have kept tens of millions tons of assets out of landfills and prevented two to four million metric tons of CO2e from entering the atmosphere.

John Kane, President, Smart Cyclers, Inc.
John Kane is an entrepreneur and business builder with decades of experience operating at the intersection of logistics, recycling, and large-scale commercial services. For over 25 years, he ran The Kane Company and Office Movers Inc, a commercial moving and storage firm serving the Washington, D.C. region, where he developed deep expertise in the office decommissioning and relocation market. Through that work, he recognized the enormous volume of office furniture that ultimately ends up in landfills and the lack of scalable recycling infrastructure to address it.

Drawing on his experience building related ventures in document destruction and electronics recycling, John founded Smart Cyclers Inc. to develop a technology-enabled recycling platform capable of recovering wood, metals, plastics, and textiles from used commercial furniture at an industrial scale. In addition to his entrepreneurial work, he has advised organizations on strategy, government affairs, and growth initiatives across the Mid-Atlantic region. His goal with Smart Cyclers is to transform an environmental waste disposal problem into a profitable circular-economy solution while significantly reducing landfill waste.

Susie Vincent, LEED AP BD+C, TRUE Advisor and SEA, Director of Client Solutions at the U.S. Green Building Council
Susie is the Director of Client Solutions at the U.S. Green Building Council for GBCI’s TRUE program. She collaborates with customers and industry stakeholders to advance a circular economy and encourages project teams along their journey to zero waste. She has extensive experience in supporting clients and organizations to set a strategy and achieve goals in the sustainable design, construction, and operations of their real estate. Susie is a Virginia Tech Alumna and completed graduate studies in sustainability through Harvard Extension.
